If you haven’t been playing Falcom games you’ve really been missing out. Besides their big juggernaut with the Trials series, Tokyo Xanadu is quite the memorable triumph too. I’d originally picked up Xanadu thinking it was a Persona-like trying to hop on the release success of P5. It’s actually quite its own beast and Falcom has done a fantastic job releasing games with fun story lines. Think of it as a bridge between your regular quirky anime content and something a bit more. Sure you’ll get tropes, but there’s substance there as well.
Today, NIS has released Falcom’s latest game and it’s very much worth looking into. Which you can do with the demo on all three release platforms! It’s a viking-esque tale that we’re just diving into. Bound to a “pirate queen” you’re magically shackled together as you begin your adventures exploring this new world. Here’s the official release.
A milestone entry in the legendary Ys series, Ys X: Nordics offers exhilarating, fast-paced combat, a moving story of unlikely allies, and naval exploration across the vibrant Obelia Gulf.
Following their tenuous encounter at sea, the young red-haired adventurer Adol Christin and the proud pirate Karja Balta find themselves bound by fate – and the mysterious power of Mana! As they search for a way to undo the mystical ties that bind them, they soon find themselves caught up in a conflict between two factions: the seafaring warriors known as the Normans and the enigmatic and seemingly immortal Griegr. In order to save the people of Obelia Gulf, Adol and Karja must navigate the depths of their unexpected bond and the power that it grants them.
