The free-to-play game that has become a hit since its release in September is coming to the Nintendo Switch … eventually.
Genshin Impact is a free-to-play open-world action-RPG that brings players to the visually stunning world of Teyvat. The player takes on the role of the mysterious “Traveler,” who sets off on a journey to discover the fate of the lost sibling and unveils the mysterious secrets of Teyvat along the way. Currently, players can explore both Mondstadt and Liyue Harbor, two of the seven major cities in Teyvat, each with unique cultures, stories, and vast surrounding landscapes, and offering a diversity of creatures, monsters, secrets, and hidden treasures for players to discover. Further cities, stories, characters, and seasonal events will be released as the game progresses.
The game is available for PlayStation 4, iOS, Android, and PC. The developers said that a Nintendo Switch version of the game is also in the works. We just don’t know when it’s coming.
In a recent interview with RPG Site, Sam Lai stated that the Switch version of Genshin Impact is currently under development. More information regarding Switch beta testing and launch dates will be announced at a later time.
Genshin Impact will feel right at home on the Switch. The game had been compared to Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Genshin Impact has the look and feel of Breath of the Wild and some of the same game mechanics. However Genshin Impact has a more anime aesthetic.
Genshin Impact can be downloaded for free on PS4 and PS5 via the PlayStation™Store, on Android via Google Play, on iOS via the App Store, and on PC only via Genshin Impact’s official website (genshin.mihoyo.com).
