Anime streaming service Funimation had come to the Nintendo Switch today, but with a catch.
Funimation has a massive collection of English-dubbed anime and hundreds of subtitled shows from Japan. Stream a huge library of ad-free anime in HD on your Nintendo Switch, including movies, OVAs, extras. Popular Anime series such as Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, My Hero Academia, Fruits Basket, Black Clover, Attack on Titan and Dragon Ball.
The only catch however is that the app only supports the premium part of the service. If you have been enjoying an ad-supported free account on the website or via the mobile apps you’re out of luck. You cam log into your free account on your Nintendo Switch but you’ll have to upgrade to a premium plan in order to use it on your Switch.
The streaming service isn’t the first video platform to come to the Nintendo Switch, which had been pretty sparse overall. While Netflix was available on the Wii, Wii U, and even the Nintendo 3DS, it is nowhere to be seem on the Switch. Hulu is available (not in Canada) as is YouTube. Another anime streaming service Crunchyroll was also previously available on the Wii.
