Nintendo announced today that they are developing a smartphone game based on Dr. Mario for release this summer. The game, titled Dr. Mario World, is being developed in partnership with Line Co. Ltd and NHN Entertainment.
The “action puzzle” game will be released in 60 countries including the United States and Japan and will be a download and “partial play free” game for iOS and Android devices. So expect this to mean that there will be micro transactions in the game.
Mobile gaming has become a profitable enterprise for Nintendo and Dr. Mario is definitely a perfect fit for a mobile title.
