The first new playable character set to join the Mario Tennis Aces roster as for 2019 is Luma.
The character from Super Mario Galaxy will be available first as part of an in-game online tournament, which takes place from January 1st thru January 31st. A subscription to Nintendo Switch Online is required to play the game online.
Luma will be available to everyone, regardless of tournament participation, after February 1st, 2019.
Boom Boom and Pauline are also set to join the Mario Tennis Aces roster as well in early 2019. Mario Tennis Aces is now available on the Nintendo Switch.
