See the origins of Kazuma Kiryu in the 1980s prologue chapter of the Yakuza series released today! This series is as deep and full of cinematic drama as it is wacky and laugh out loud hilarious. If you haven’t experienced the Yakuza series before, this is a great place to start. Start out as the series protagonist and lash out to try to clear your name in street brawling action! Then, get the full story through so much meaningful character dialogue, you’ll forget at times that you’re not watching a movie! I mean that in a good way too. The story has so much to it that you’ll easily get invested in the cast.
The Yakuza series focuses on substance over a big sprawling world. So while the streets you’ll explore don’t really make up a huge metropolis, there is a lot to do within them. There’s arcades, bowling, karaoke, convenience stores, restaurants, and so much character interaction you’ll feel accustomed to the streets in no time.
Take a look at the trailer below! It really highlights the two sides of the Yakuza series. There’s lots more Yakuza action on the way too! Sega is releasing a remake of Yakuza 1 this summer in North America with Yakuza Kiwami. Following that, next year we’ll see the release of Yakuza 6: The Song Of Life! If you miss Kiryu in the meantime even with those two titles, I highly recommend Yakuza 5!
