It was close but Stumbling Cat’s first full project Potions: A Curious Tale received full funding late last night. The Kickstarter project was in its final hours with just 62% funding but a last push helped inch the game passed their goal.
The Kickstarter campaign raised $64,506 of their $62,000 goal. Development is being led by Renee Gittins, who is also a contributor at our friends Broken Joysticks.
Potions: A Curious Tale is a reinvention of old adventure-puzzle games, such as Zelda, while making use of a resource-based combat system where you craft every spell you cast. It’s an adventure-crafting game where your wits and ingenuity are your greatest weapons, and combat is not always the answer. You play as Luna, a young witch who overcomes obstacles with the potions she brews. Encounter fairy tale characters and stories from around the world in new settings and situations as you guide Luna on her quest to become a potions master.
The game goes beyond the tradional conflict resolution of pure combat. You’ll be using potions, the environment, and even other monsters to defeat your enemies.
The game is Stumbling Cat’s first major game. While there is no firm release date set, the game is anticipated to be released in April 2017. The game is planned for a Steam release with a console release yet to be determined.
