Nintendo released the release date of both the next The Legend of Zelda game as well as their new console, code-named NX, at the same time this morning.
Nintendo confirmed that the Nintendo NX is scheduled to launch in March 2017. Not only that but NX will not make an appearance at E3 in June. Nintendo plans to release more information about the console later this year.
The latest installment of The Legend of Zelda is scheduled to also launch in March of 2017.
Similar to what happened with The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess which was released on both the GameCube and the Wii, the next game will launch simultaneously for both Wii U and NX, and both versions of the game have been in development in tandem. Nintendo stated that developers need more time to polish the game, it will launch in 2017 and will be the focus of Nintendo’s presence at E3.
This June, Nintendo will focus its attentions solely on the upcoming The Legend of Zelda. The Wii U version of the game will be playable for the first time on the E3 show floor, and it will be the only playable game Nintendo presents at the show.
Hopefully Nintendo will change up its stance a little bit. While I’m just as excited as the next person for The Legend of Zelda, there is a lot more going on in NintendoLand.
