The comic has been delayed a few times but may finally see the light of day in just under a month. Dark Circle Comics, the Archie Comics arm for more adult comics, is planning to release the first issue of The Shield on October 14th. The comic is a full colour comic and will retail for $3.99, which is standard for other Archie Comics.
This will be the third ongoing series for Dark Circle after The Fox and The Black Hood.
Written by Adam Christopher (Elementary: The Ghost Line) and Chuck Wendig (Star Wars: Aftermath) with art by Drew Johnson (Wonder Woman), THE SHIELD #1 re-imagines a classic Golden Age hero for a new generation of readers! Issue #1 hits comic stores and digital platforms on October 14th with the first chapter of “Daughter of the Revolution.”
Since the dawn of the republic, whenever her country faces its blackest days, she returns: a spirit of the revolution sent to fight for what is right. But when she reappears for the first time in a generation with no memories—not even of her own identity—and encounters an evil force expecting her arrival, all the Shield can do is…run!
There is one main cover to the book with four variant covers. I personally like a few of the variants over the main cover, but I’m excited to see what is inside the book more. I have an affinity for female superheros personally.
