With a classical animation style that would make any 2D fan instantly take notice, and what at first looked like a lead in to the indie section and not even a game at all, is Cuphead. Where have these guys been? Get them making a new Mickey Mousecapade game Disney!
Promoted at the show by two Canadian Brothers Chad and Jared Moldenhauer, the game has an amazing aesthetic feel of a 1930’s cartoon. The game features Cuphead and Mugman trying to repay a debt to the devil through a series of side scrolling levels. The brothers also note that the game will have a difficult “retro feel” to the gameplay.
Below is the trailer. Sure we saw a lot of awesome games today so far, but Cuphead really stands out! The style, the animation quality, everything! This is a game we want to play!
