Today was Free Comic Book Day across North America and the world – a day where participating comic shops give away comic books to anyone coming into their stores. Free Comic Book Day takes place on the first Saturday of May and is an annual promotional effort by the North American comic book industry to help bring new readers into independent comic book stores. The annual event started back in 2002 and is coordinated by Diamond Comic Distributors, the industry’s single large distributor.
The promotion sees participation by many comic publishers, including Archie, Marvel, DC, TokyoPop as well as many independent publishers.
