Nintendo released a small system update for the 3DS last night. The update (6.2.0-12U) allows gamers to interact via Streetpass even if they aren’t at the same place at the same time.
When a Nintendo 3DS user gets near a StreetPass Relay Point and has the StreetPass feature enabled, it will automatically store his/her StreetPass data temporarily and then send it on to the next Nintendo 3DS user to visit that same location who has the same game(s).
This new service will make it much easier to get special content for StreetPass-enabled games such as Fire Emblem Awakening and Animal Crossing: New Leaf. And, if the gamer activated StreetPass Mii Plaza, they’ll also be able to collect puzzle pieces and play new games such as Mii Force and Monster Manor, which are available for purchase in StreetPass Mii Plaza.
Its as easy as walking passed a Nintendo Zone location with your Nintendo 3DS in tow. Check out a video from Nintendo and a list of all the Nintendo zone locations here.
