PeTA has made their latest spoof game that takes aim at animal cruelty. The latest involves poking fun (pun intended) at the latest iteration from Nintendo’s successful Pokemon series in Black 2 and White 2.
The game, if you can call it that, is tasteless and is up there with a lot of the stuff that has come out from the advocacy group.
“The amount of time that Pokémon spend stuffed in pokéballs is akin to how elephants are chained up in train carts, waiting to be let out to “perform” in circuses. But the difference between real life and this fictional world full of organized animal fighting is that Pokémon games paint rosy pictures of things that are actually horrible.”
With the exception of the series of print advertisements that featured mostly-nude celebrities declaring that they would rather be naked than wear fur, I haven’t seen anything from PeTa that didn’t make me shake my head.
Where’s the mostly nude Princess Peach anti-fur ad? That I can get behind.
I’m all for treating animals with kindness and not mistreating animals, but this is a video game based on fantasy.

They also made spoofs of Cooking Mama and Super Mario Bros. The Mario spoof is called “Super Tanooki Skin 2D” dubbed Mario Kills Tanooki. The simple side-scrolling game, if you can call it that, has forced scrolling and randomly generated levels where you play a skinned raccoon chasing down a flying Mario. Really?
New Super Chick Sisters is also a spoof of NSMB. In this game, arguably with better gameplay, you play as a chicken trying to save little birdies from slaughter by McDonald’s while jumping on goombas, er I mean hamburgers. It even has Mario in the game.
I wonder why Nintendo hasn’t put a stop to PeTA’s bad taste. Bun, er PUN intended.
