It’s definitely exciting news when you see Corey and Lori Cole are working on a new game. There has been fantastic news of Sierra creators returning. That news for me became better and better, with this being the most wonderful of all! I adored adventure games growing up and now it sounds like we will soon have a new title to enjoy, Hero-U.
In keeping with the traditional down trodden hero, the new adventure focuses around a rogue caught in his thieves guild initiation. Instead of prison however, the rogue, Shawn O’Conner, is sent off to reform school. Unlike Quest for Glory titles you’re not given a choice of class here. Shawn is your character.
Given the brilliant writing we’ve seen from the series, I’m not worried about that decision however. The fun I had in Quest for Glory was meaningful and memorable. The new game promises turn based tactical combat, dungeon exploration, rich character interactions, and of course, puzzles! With meaningful choices being a focus in the game, it should be interesting to see how this game develops.
Comon Corey and Lori, just give us the word and I’m sure many of us will happily throw in our money! We’ve waited for this for a long time and this is fantastic news for us PC gamers!
It sounds like the concept will be more than just one game, as was the Quest for Glory series. Keep up to date on the games official site and Corey and Lori’s Quest Log with Heroes, Rogues and Thieves being an interesting, game related read.
Thank you for the great writeup! Lori and I are really excited about making a new game and diving into the turbulent waters of Kickstarter financing. So far this has been absolutely amazing – signing on the talented developers at Brawsome, getting Eriq Chang to direct the art, hearing fantastic music from Ryan Grogan, and of course the outpouring of fan support as we race towards Oct. 19 and the beginning of the Kickstarter campaign.
We are centering this game around a single character class because we can do more justice to the story and game play this way. If the funding and game sales are successful, we will move on to stories centered around other character classes, so that player abilities will be different in each game.
Wow! It’s an honour to read from you Corey! Sorry for the slow reply, I’m used to just getting spam on here. Thanks for the additional news and I’m very excited to hear about your kickstarter campaign! Many games have come and gone over the years, but Quest for Glory has stuck with many of us. Knowing that there is more from Lori and yourself is fantastic news!
